Main Research Lines :

  • Electromagnetic compatibility
  • Safety and health effects of mainly low-frequency Electromagnetic Fields (EMF). Special emphasis is placed upon the studies related to the influence which EMF can have on human EEG activity *.
  • Electromagnetic analysis of lightning effects


* : Participation in 8 international and 6 national scientific projects; Contribution of more than 100 papers in scientific journals and conferences; Organization of 4 international and regional workshops.

 

 What is offered to the other NEUROMATH partners :

  • Capability to host PhD students and researchers from other laboratories of “NEUROMATH”, enabled through the option for Short Term Scientific Missions
  • Capability to asses existing EMF especially in cases of radiation from multiple sources typical for rural and urban areas
  • Capability to prepare various experimental setups of EMF fields at different frequencies for studies of changes in brain functions due to EMF exposure.




What are we looking for in other NEUROMATH partners :

  • Interest to investigate possible influence of low-frequency EMF (generated from mobile phones) on EEG activity in humans.
  • Interest to explore the potentials of quantitative EEG as a tool for assessing the range of EMF influence on mental activity in humans.

The main research lines :

  • Examining the correlation between the brain electric oscillations and the mental state indexes as quantitative indicators of different cognitive and behavioral disorders
  • Exploring the specific role of mental arousal, as a background state of consciousness related to short-range long-time neuronal activations, including application of spectrum-weighted frequency (brain-rate), as arousal indicator and neurofeedback parameter
  • Investigating the mechanism and properties of synchronization in mutually coupled periodic and/or chaotic oscillators within networks with different topologies and forms of clustering and defining the main features that characterize neuronal synchronization

  • Capability to host PhD students and researchers from other laboratories of NEUROMATH, supported by the STSM
  • Capability to process and share cognitive EEGs and brain-rate application
  • Capability to develop practical algorithms for computing transfer entropy, different synchronization phenomena, including phase and generalized synchronization from experimental data
  • Capability to model the effects of extra-cellular space and glial signaling on the neuronal synchronization
 
 
 
 What we are looking for in the other NEUROMATH partners :
 
  • Different algorithms for the estimation of cortical activity
  • Capability to estimate connectivity from scalp recording EEG on a quasi-realistic average head model
  • Laboratory data and analyses that could be used for modeling neuronal synchronization

  • Individual approach in neurofeedback treatment according to individual EEG indices.
  • Assessment of children with psychophysiological problems by using quantitative EEG, evoked potentials and event related potentials.
  • Comparison of neurofeedback results at the beginning and end of neurofeedback treatment.

  • Capability to host young researchers from other laboratories, supported by the STSM
  • Capability to process and share results from EEG recordings from children with different cognitive and emotional problems
 
 
 
What we are looking for in the other NEUROMATH partners :
 
  • Different algorithms for the assessment of children with psychophysiological problems in order to upgrade the knowledge of their treatment.
  • Implementation of new theoretical data in explanation of changes in EEG parameters after neurofeedback treatment
