Louis LEMIEUX
Louis Lemieux: Born in Quebec City and educated in Canada (BSc Physics, Uinversite de Montreal, MSc Physics, University of Toronto), Louis Lemieux obtained a PhD in Physics at the Universite de Montreal in 1990 on the modelling of intra-cerebral EEG, the year he joined the Institute of Neurology (now part of University College London), Queen Square, London, UK, where he has worked since. After a post-doc on the integration of multi-modal imaging and electrophysiological data for surgery planning in Epilepsy, Louis' research focused on MR image registration and segmentation. In parallel with his research he provided technical support for the clinical application of his surgical planning software. Subsequently, his research interests expanded into functional imaging and in particular the technique of simultaneous EEG and fMRI applied to the investigation of the generators of epileptiform activity. Louis was made professor of Physics Applied to Medical Imaging in 2005, has chaired the UCL Centre for Neuroimaging Techniques since 2003 and is vice-chair of the Institute of Neurology's Academic Board.
